Three robbers held after gun battle
Police arrested three alleged robbers and recovered arms from them fallowing an hour-long gun fight in Dulahazara area under Chakoria upazila at around 3 am Friday.
The arrested robbers are Mohammad Karin, 28, son of Yusuf Ali and Joynal Abedin, 25, son of Nazir Hossain of Dakhhinkul area under Moheshkhali union of Moheshkhali upazila and Sarwar Alam, 27, son of Faridul Alam of Dumkhali village under Dulahazara union of Chakoria upazila.
Police recovered one locally made long gun, seven rounds of live cartridges, two machetes and a knife from them.
During interrogation the arrested robbers admitted that they were preparing to commitment a robbery. When police raided the area to nab them the robbers opened fire at the police team, they said.
Two separate cases have been filed with Chakoria police in this connection, police said.
