FFs besiege CS office in Nilphamari

Our Correspondent, Nilphamari
Freedom fighters here yesterday besieged the office of the civil surgeon (CS) demanding fair selection of candidates from freedom fighters' quota for the posts of class three and class four employees under heath department in the district. The district health administration has already completed selection process and is going to appoint the successful candidates to 85 posts in the two categories. A team of freedom fighters led by Shahidul Islam, sadar upazila commander of Muktijoddha Sangsad, met the CS at his office and demanded fair selection of candidates from freedom fighters' quota. They also demanded that the dependants of the freedom fighters who scored qualifying marks both in written test and viva, should be selected as per merit. The CS told the freedom fighters that everything would be done in proper way as per government instructions. The freedom fighters withdrew the siege programme at around 1:30pm. Civil Surgeon Abdur Rashid Akand told this correspondent that a list from the district command of Bangladesh Muktijoddha Sangshad was given to him earlier. In the list, some particular names from freedom fighters families were clearly mentioned to select them from freedom fighters' quota, he added. “I cannot do that because selection committee has to follow government rules in selecting candidates for freedom fighters' quota.” the civil surgeon said.
