10 houses, 10 shops gutted in 2 districts
Fire incidents in Rajbari and Kurigram district yesterday gutted at least 10 houses and 10 shops.
A devastating fire at Tenapocha Asrayan Project-1 in Goalanda under Rajbari district gutted at least 10 houses constructed for the landless people, reports UNB.
Locals said the fire broke out at a house of the project and gutted nine other adjacent houses and six kitchen rooms at about 2:00am.
Fire fighters from the district headquarters rushed to the spot and extinguished the fire with the help of local people.
The affected house owners are Nurjahan Begum, Ahmed Sheikh, Hasna Hena, Ramjan Molla, Tutul Molla, Jyosna Begum, Mohon Sheikh, Selim Molla, Jahanara Begum and Jahangir Hossain. The reason behind the fire could not be known immediately.
In Kurigram, ten shops in the town's municipal market were gutted in a fire in the morning, reports our correspondent.
According to the fire fighters, the fire originated from an electric short circuit at a television servicing centre on the first floor of the market at about 10:30am. Besides 10 shops, the fire also destroyed an office of local TV Journalists Forum.
On information, the fire fighters rushed to the spot and brought the fire under control in an hour.
Shop owners claimed that the fire burnt to ashes their property worth fifty lakh taka.
