The arrestee, Abul Kalam Azad, is one of the accused in the murder case filed by the victim's father Rashedul Islam with Dinajpur Police Station Tuesday morning. Detectives raided Sharampur village in Badalgachhi upazila of Naogaon and arrested Prof Azad at his house at around 2:30am. Two other accused in the case are Kamiab coaching centre teacher Shahinur Rahman Shahin and night guard of the centre Afsar Ali. Prof Azad is the owner of the coaching centre. Following the incident, police picked up Azad and Shahin in connection with the incident. At one stage, they (locals) assaulted Hasan Shamim Iqbal, officer-in-charge of Sadar Police Station, and demanded his removal for releasing Azad. Hundreds of locals then took to the streets and blocked the Dhaka-dinajpur highway for 18 hours since Monday midnight. After arrest, coaching centre teacher Shahin confessed to hitting the two boys in the head with bricks but said he did not intend to kill Noor. He claimed the two brothers stole his bicycle a few days ago. Azad was brought to Dinajpur yesterday morning. During preliminary interrogation, He denied his involvement in the killing. Azad and Shahin were produced in the Senior Judicial Magistrate's Court yesterday. The court sent them to jail, rejecting their bail prayers. Police prayed for a seven day remand of Shahin.
