2 held, main accused still on the run
Alfadanga police arrested two accused in housewife Monira murder case from Bhatiapara bus stand area in Gopalgonj district yesterday morning.
The arrestees are main accused Shabuddin Khan's mother Achhia Begum, 50, and brother Sumon Khan, 21, of Dhalaichar village in Alfadanga.
Meanwhile, main accused Shabuddin Khan, husband of Monira Begum is still at large.
Sub-inspector (SI) Shariful Islam, investigation officer (IO) of the case, told this correspondent that acting on a tip-off that Achhia and Sumon were trying to flee the area, a police team arrested them from the bus stand.
"I am trying my best to arrest Shabuddin", he said.
Madrasa student Monira Begum, 20, set ablaze allegedly by her husband Shabuddin Khan in Alfadanga upazila on June 27, died at Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) on July 10.
