Police neglect to duty and sad death of a schoolboy

Three cops of Lalpur police station and an Ansar were closed to Natore police lines yesterday on charge of negligence of duty. They are Sub-Inspector Jamat Ali, constables Rezaul Islam and Abdul Halim and Ansar Jamal Uddin. Additional Superintendent of Police Nasirul Islam said the four were closed as they failed to perform their duties at Tinkhuti area on Lalpur-Bagha road where a robbery was committed at midnight on Thursday. A gang of robbers waylaid a microbus with a schoolboy with heart disease and his parents aboard in Tinkhuti area on its way to Rajshahi Medical College and Hospital (RMCH) on Thursday midnight. The gang looted money, gold ornaments and a mobile phone from the parents of the ailing boy, Al-Amin, 12, a class VI student of Amdaha High School in Daulat upazila of Kushtia. Mithu, the microbus driver, lodged a case with Lalpur police station on Friday night, alleging that a gang of 12 robbers intercepted his microbus in TinKhuti area on Lalpur-Bagha road on Thursday midnight and beat him up. The gang beat up the parents of an ailing schoolboy and looted their valuables. He further said the boy died at Bagha on way to RMCH. Police said Al-Amin, suffering from chest disease, was being shifted to RMCH from Kushtia Sadar hospital in a microbus. He died of heart disease, they added.
