Housewife beaten to death
A tribal housewife was beaten to death allegedly by her husband and brother-in-law at Bakakura village in Jhenigati upazila on Saturday night.
Deceased Ishita Sangmar was wife of Semison Marak and daughter of Palen Marak of Kharamura village in Sribordi upazila.
Police quoting locals said, Ishita was married off with Semison, son of Joshen Sangmar six months ago. Since marriage, Semison was torturing his wife on flimsy ground.
On the fateful night, Semison picked up a quarrel with Ishita over a trifling matter. Then he along with his brother Manu Marak beat her mercilessly, leaving her dead on the spot.
Later, they hanged her body from the ceiling of their house to prove that she had committed suicide.
On information, police rushed to the spot and sent the body to Sherpur General Hospital morgue for autopsy on Sunday.
Police arrested Semison and his brother Manu in this connection.
