One killed in clash over land
A man was killed and at least 10 people were injured in a clash over land dispute at Dewan Nagar village in Sadar upazila yesterday.
The deceased was identified as Jamal Uddin, 38, son of late Abdul Quddus of the village.
Police quoting witnesses said there was a long standing dispute between Abdul Ahad and Ataur Rahman of the village over the possession of a piece of land.
When Ataur along with his men went to the disputed land to take its possession at around 1:00p, Ahad and his supporters swooped on them.
The feuding groups used lethal weapons during the clash, leaving at least 11 people from both sides injured. Being informed, police rushed to the spot, dispersed the clashing groups and brought the situation under control.
The injured were admitted to Sadar Hospital and one of them named Jamal Uddin succumbed to his injuries soon after admission.
