Bus operators yesterday suspended their service indefinitely on Faridpur-Boalmari- Alfadanga roads protesting battered condition of the roads. Bus owners in consultation with transport workers decided to suspend the operation of their vehicles on the roads. They said about 32-kilometre road from Faridpur town to Boalmari and Alfadanga via Majhkandi are in dilapidated condition. Roads developed numerous big and small potholes and cracks, making it difficult to continue the bus service, they added. The decision will add to the woes of passengers who have been suffering a lot due to bad road condition. Mohammad Kamruzzaman, general secretary of District Bus Owners' Association said, the decision was taken without prior announcement as the drivers declined to ply buses on the roads from Sunday. Santosh Kumar Roy, executive engineer of Faridpur Roads and Highways Department, said repair work on Kankhordi link road in Boalmari was hampered due to incessant rain in the last one week.
