Detective branch police on Sunday seized a huge quantity of adulterated and date expired cosmetics from a house at Shahipara in the town. Acting on a tip off, a team of DB police led by sub-inspector Rashed Ahmed raided the house belonging to Zakir Hossain at about 11:30am. They seized a truck laden with the date expired and adulterated cosmetics and toiletries and arrested Zakir from the house. The seized goods include shampoo, toothpaste, detergent powder, body lotion, body spray, talcum powder, coconut oil, olive oil, face cream, face wash, soaps, deodorants and several other items of fake domestic and foreign brands. SI Rashed Ahmed said Zakir Hossain, proprietor of Zaman Traders at Kachari Bazaar used to erase the actual expiry date from the containers and put new date on them. Besides, he used to collect vacant containers of popular cosmetics from the hawkers and put fake cosmetics in them. A case was registered with Rangpur Kotwali police station against Zakir Hossain.
