Strike at two Opsonin units called off
Workers at two units of Opsonin Group of Industries called off their strike following tripartite negotiations between the workers, management and labour directorate yesterday.
A three- member team from labour directorate and two senior executives of human resource division of Opsonin Group of Industries started negotiation with the workers on Saturday night.
They first sat with the workers of Global Capsule Factory at Rupatali in the city and reached an agreement with the workers of the unit yesterday morning.
As per agreement, the management will increase salaries of permanent and temporary workers in phases and won't take any action against the workers who joined agitation on Saturday. Production at the factory resumed in the afternoon.
The team then started negotiation with the workers of Opso Saline Factory. After a three-hour long discussion, they reached an agreement at around 4:00pm.
According to the agreement, the management to raise monthly salary of permanent workers, daily wage to Tk 90 from Tk 70 for temporary workers, tiffin allowance to Tk 20 from Tk 10 and provide ambulance service for sick workers.
The management also agreed to withdraw three officials from the factory as per demand of the workers and assured the workers of not taking any action against them for vandalising the factory on Saturday.
