Infant dies at pvt clinic: 3 arrested
Wrong treatment alleged
An infant died allegedly for wrong treatment at a private clinic in Sadar upazila of the district on Saturday night.
Police arrested three people in this connection. They are Maksuda Akhter, 23, a nurse of the clinic, Mostafizur Rahman Rony, 24, in- charge of the clinic and office assistant Imran Hossain, 20.
Shahidul Islam, officer-in-charge (OC) of Sadar police station said Ripon Hossain, a resident of Panam village of Sadar upazila came to child specialist Dr Abdul Matin at his chamber at a super market with his 42-day-old son Shahbaz at around 10:00pm on Saturday night. The boy was suffering from breathing problem.
Later, as per the doctor's advice, Ripon admitted his son to Ekata Clinic on the same night.
Soon after the admission, Maksuda, a nurse of the clinic pushed an injection, in absence of any doctor, allegedly causing death of the child immediately.
The body was sent to Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy and a case was filed in this connection.
The arrestees were sent to jail after they were produced before a court yesterday, as their bail petition was rejected.
