Student's death sparks protest in Nilphamari
Local people blocked Nilphamari-Domar road for two and half hours and torched a truck following the death of college girl in a road crash in Sadar upazila yesterday.
Police and witnesses said a Domar bound truck from Nilphamari crashed into a motorbike coming from opposite direction, leaving Kabita Rani,17, daughter of Moni Bhusan of Bamnabamni village, dead on the spot.
Two other riders of the motorbike-Kabita's uncle Jagadish Chandra Roi and aunt Niva Rani,18, escaped unhurt.
Local people got furious over the incident and set the truck ablaze. They also caught truck driver Naser Uddin.
The rowdy people also put up barricade on Nilphamari-Domar road, disrupting traffic.
