Sust expels 2 BCL activists

The authorities of Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (Sust) expelled two honours final year students, each for one year, on Monday on charge of assaulting a master's student on the campus on July 30. The expellees are Azaharul Islam and Didarul Alam of food engineering and tea technology department and also the activists of BCL Hafiz-Abid group at the university. Azahar and Didar along with some other BCL men of Hafiz-Abid faction beat up Kamruzzaman Sweet, a master's student at the statistics department and also a leader of their rival faction, on the campus at around 4:00pm on Monday The attack was a sequel to an altercation between Sweet and the activists of Hafiz-Abid faction over rag day celebration by the students of 2006-07 batch on July 29. Meanwhile, the BCL central committee temporarily expelled Hafizur Rahman, a joint convener of its SUST unit, on Monday on charge of assaulting Kamruzzaman Sweet, another joint convener of the unit, on the campus July 30.
