Although accused Huji activist Sharif Shahedul Alam Bipul in his confessional statement in the court said former BNP lawmaker Ilyas Ali had asked him to launch the grenade, but the investigators did not try to identify the perpetrators and the supplier of the grenade, Mesbah stated in his prayer. CID submitted charge sheet in the case in 2008, accusing Huji chief Mufti Abdul Hannan, Mufti Hannan's brother Muhibullah alias Muhibur Rahman, Huji operatives Mufti Main Uddin alias Abu Zandal, Delwar Hossain Ripon, Sharif Shahedul Alam Bipul and Humayun Kabir Himu.
