Youth gets life for rape
A tribunal here on Sunday convicted a young man and sentenced him to life term imprisonment for violating a girl.
The convict was identified as Dinendra Nath Borman alias Dhola, 30, son of Lalit Borman of East Dhakeshwari village in Birganj upazila.
The court also fined him Tk 10,000, in default, to suffer one year more RI.
According to the prosecution, Dhola violated Nayan Mohanta Roy, 18, daughter of Chandra Mohanta Roy of the village on 1 February, 2009.
Later, the victim's father filed a case with Birganj PS in this connection.
After examining the records and witnesses, Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal Judge MA Noor pronounced the verdict in the crowded courtroom.
