Police, BCL cadres foil human chain
A human chain programme organised by a group of journalists was foiled by police and BCL cadres yesterday.
The journalists were protesting the recent arrest of the editor of 'Shirsha News' and 'Shirsha Kagoj.'
Zahagir Hossain, officer-in-charge of Barisal Kotwali police station, said police had asked the newsmen not to organise the human chain without prior permission.
During the programme, a BCL activist slapped on the face of Mamunur Rashid Nomani, news editor of local daily Shahnama and correspondent of Khabar Patra. Nomani also beat up BCL activist Tarikul Islam.
