Transport strike called off
Transport owners and workers withdrew their strike on the Dhaka-Bogra highway yesterday afternoon following a meeting with Bogra district administration.
Earlier road communications between 11 northern districts and the capital remained suspended since early morning yesterday as Bogra motor vehicle owners and workers enforced another strike for the second time in a week.
Motor vehicle owners and workers announced the strike through loudspeakers around 11:15pm Sunday, a day after they observed a daylong transport strike on Saturday.
The owners and workers called the strike Sunday night after a section of Sirajganj bus workers assaulted a driver and a helper and two passengers of two buses of Bogra's Fateh Ali and Dur Diganta Paribahan at Chandaikona of the district Sunday morning.
Bogra motor vehicle owners and workers enforced another strike earlier on Saturday following the chaos with transport workers of Sirajganj over using the bypasses.
