BCL cadres kill youth in Patuakhali college
Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) cadres on Tuesday killed a youth on AKM College campus in the town.
The victim was identified as Shahadat Hossain, 28, son of late Nayan Hawlader of Nandakanai in the town. Shahadat used to drive motorbike on rental basis.
A gang led by Hasan Sikder, secretary for BCL of the college unit, killed the driver in presence of over a hundred students and teachers.
Eyewitnesses and police said, there was a long-standing feud between Hasan Sikder and Sahadat Hossain. Hasan's men asked Sahadat to come to the campus to settle the dispute at about 12:30 noon.
When Sahadat entered the campus, the gang attacked him with sharp weapon and hacked him mercilessly.
A few students who witnessed the scene chased the gang but failed to nab any of them.
Later, the students took Sahadat to Patuakhali General Hospital where the on-duty doctor declared him dead.
Tapan Kumar Saha, officer-in-charge (OC) of Patuakhali police station said police were 'trying their best' to arrest the culprits.
"We shall take lawful action on getting allegation," he added.
