Pass rate of girls higher than boys

The pass rate of girls is 4.97 percent higher than boys' in this year's HSC results under Rajshahi Education Board. This year, the pass rate in Rajshahi Education Board stands at 79.01 percent. Among them, boys' pass rate is 76.74 percent while the girls' is 81.71 percent. The girls are ahead of the boys in all the three groups science, arts and commerce. In last year too, girls did better, being 2.66 percent higher than boys in pass percentage under Rajshahi board. Boys, however, did better in terms of GPA-5 achievers. Out of the total 5588 GPA-5 winners, 2949 are boys and 2639 are girls. Last year, 3082 boys got GPA-5 against 2520 girls. Class attendance among girls is better and so, their success rate is higher, said Abdul Mannan, principal of Rajshahi Government Women's College that stands within the top 20 colleges in Rajshahi.
