Pass percentage down, GPA-5 achievers up
The pass percentage of this year's Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) examinations under Chittagong Education Board came down to 71.03 from last year's 72.65, marking a fall of 1.62 point.
Though the education board saw a fall in the pass rate, the number of Grade Point Average (GPA) -5 achievers is a little bit higher than previous year.
The board statistics show pass percentage in the metropolitan area is 81.15 while the rate outside the metropolitan area is 64.62. Seven institutions secured cent percent pass rate like previous year and no college had zero success.
A total of 1795 students from 187 colleges achieved GPA-5, compared to 1,618 of last year's.
As many as 48,191 students--24,971 boys and 23,220 girls--appeared in the HSC examinations under Chittagong board and 33,931 came out successful. The pass rate of boys and girls is 69.84 and 72.32.
Fauzderhat Cadet College topped the list of top 20 institutions. Fifty students appeared in the HSC examinations from the college and came out successful. Of them, 47 obtained GPA-5.
Chittagong Government College stood second with highest 404 GPA-5 achievers in the board. A total of 769 students appeared in the exams from the college. Govt. Commerce College secured third position with its 214 GPA-5 achievers. As many as 751 students sat for the HSC examinations from this college and came out successful.
Chittagong Public School and College secured fourth position among the top 20 colleges with 153 GPA-5 achievers. A total of 604 students appeared in the examinations from this college.
Govt. Haji Mohammad Mohsin College stood fifth with 310 GPA-5 achievers. A total of 1357 students sat for the HSC from the college.
Ispahani Public School and College, Chittagong Govt Girls' College, Noubahini College, Chittagong Govt City College and Cox's Bazar college secured sixth, seventh, eighth, ninth and tenth position among the top 20 colleges under the board.
