<i>A bond of friendship between 2 cities</i>
A bond of friendship has been established between Pabna municipality and Australian Parramatta City with naming of a road of the municipality after the Australian city.
John Chedid, mayor of Parramatta City Council, unveiled the plaque of the road beside Pabna municipality Friday morning.
Later, a reception was accorded to a four-member delegation of the city council at Pabna town Hall with municipality Mayor Kamrul Hassan Mintu in the chair.
Addressing the reception, Mayor John Chedid said Parramatta City and Pabna town will share experiences in education, medicare and business to their mutual benefit. He urged Bangladeshi businessmen to invest in Parramatta city because of ample scope for investment there.
Former adviser to the caretaker government Tapan Chowdhury, Pabna Deputy Commissioner Md Mostafizur Rahman, Superintendent of Police Jahangir Hossain and educationalist Md Abdul Karim spoke.
They urged the members of the Australian delegation to encourage their businessmen to set up units at Ishwardhi Export Processing Zone. They can invest here in garments or any other productive sectors, the speakers said.
Mayor Kamrul Hassan Mintu handed over the key of Pabna municipality to Parramatta City Mayor John Chedid at the function.
