ASI closed for rape bid in Patuakhali
An assistant sub-inspector (ASI) posted at Mohipur under Kalapara police station has been closed for allegedly trying to rape the wife of a fisherman.
Earlier, Superintendent of Police (SP) Azad Mia formed a 2-member probe body which found the ASI guilty.
On Sunday, The SP gave the directive to close ASI Anil Chandra Das.
Sources said, Anil had been giving indecent proposal to wife of Sohag, a fisherman at Najibpur village for long.
At about 10:00 pm on Saturday the accused went to house of the woman while her husband Sohag was not at home.
He forcibly entered into her house and tried to rape her.
Hearing hue and cry, locals rushed to the spot but Anil managed to flee the scene.
Next day Sohag and his wife went to local Awami League office in Mohipur and lodged a complaint.
The victim told the local AL chief that four days before the incident Anil Chandra called her to his office through his source Nilu Gazi in the name of a case.
Anil took her signature on a white paper and threatened that she will be arrested if she did not listen to Anil.
The SP of Patuakhali said they have already closed Anil Chandra as he was found guilty in primary investigation.
"We will take departmental action against him on receiving the probe body report," the SP added.9
