No progress in Daspara cop killing case
A year into the killing of three policemen at Daspara under Bera upazila, police could not submit charge sheet against the accused in the case.
Pabna Police Superintendent Md Jahangir Hossain Matobbar said the investigation into the case has already been completed. “We have got the names of the criminals involved in the incident. We are waiting for a forensic report on a firearm used by the gang during the attack on the cops”, he said.
Names of the criminals, who took part in the operation, are now available to the police, the police superintendent said, adding that they will submit the charge sheet as soon as they receive the forensic report.
Sub-Inspector Md Zohir Uddin, also the investigation officer (IO) of the case, said charge sheet against 20 outlaws involved in the incident will be submitted to the court. Of the underground operatives, 11 are now in jail, seven still at large while the rest two have been killed in intra-party clash during the year-long investigation, the IO added.
Outlaws shot dead sub-inspector Md Kafil Uddin, nayek Abdul Wahed and constable Shafique Ahmed of Dhalarchar police camp at Daspara on July 20, 2010. The policemen came under attack when they went to Rajdhardiar village to buy woods for the camp.
