Attack on AL Office in Satkhira
43 Jamaat men sued, 11 of them arrested
Forty-three leaders and activists of Jamaat-e-Islami were sued on Sunday on charge of attacking and ransacking local Awami League (AL), and blasting bombs and damaging the portraits at village Kutighata under Padmapukur union in Shyamnagar upazila on Saturday night.
Police said, they recovered two live bombs from the spot soon after the incident.
Local AL leader Habibur Rahman of village Kutighata filed the case with Shyamnagar police station.
Later, police arrested eleven accused from their houses on the same day.
The arrestees are Nur Islam, Emdadul Haque, Rashedul Islam, Lovelu, Ahsan Habib, Shahidul Islam, Abu Daud, Mohammad Ali, Shahidullah, Ansar Uddin and Manirul Islam of village Kutighata.
The complainant said local leaders and activists of Jamaat held a meeting near the AL office at village Kutighata on July 16 evening.
After the meeting, they attacked the office and threw three bombs on the office at about 8-30 pm.
They also damaged the furniture and the portraits of Father of the Nation and prime minister at the office, according to locals and police.
