BSF hands over 6 youths to BGB

Indian Border Security Force (BSF) handed over six Bangladeshi youths to Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) while police rescued four others while being trafficked to India on Tuesday. BSF on Tuesday night handed over six youths to BGB on expiry of their jail term in India, according to our correspondent in Benapole, Jessore. The trafficked youngmen were identified as Jewel Rana, son of Shahjahan Khan of Habiganj district, Russell, son of Malek Molla, Shahidul Sheikh, son of Sher Ali and Sohel Mondol, son of Haran Mondol of Jessore district, Selim, son of Abdul Hamid of Satkhira district and Azizul Hakim, son of Abdul Alim of Khulna district. “The human traffickers took the six youths to Delhi, capital of India, in 2008, promising to give good jobs,” BGB in-charge of ICP camp Jamal Hossain said. Later, Delhi police arrested them from a slum and sent them to jail. On expiry of their three-year jail term, a Bangladesh NGO negotiated the safe return of the six youths. BSF handed them over to BGB officials and immigration police through Benapole check post on completion of all official formalities at night. Meanwhile, a woman and three children were rescued at Sajiali village in Sadar upazila of Jessore while being trafficked to India on Tuesday, reports our correspondent. The victims are Muslima, 20, wife of Rafiqul Islam, his daughter Farzana, 5, and son Mahfuj, 2, of Tala upazila in Sathkira district and Beauty, 11, daughter of Shamsul Haque of Nilphamari district. According to police, a human trafficker, identified as Jahanara, took them to the house of another trafficker Siraj Mia of Sajiali village assuring them of giving good job in India. Acting on secret information, police rescued them from the house of Siraj Mia in the morning. Police also arrested Jahanara Begum, of Jhikargachha upazila of Jessore and Amir Hossain, of Kaliganj upazila of Jhenidah.
