Pro-hartal men burn mango-laden truck

Pro-hartal BNP activists set fire to a mango-laden truck and injured two mango traders and the truck driver at Tebaria on Natore-Dhaka highway in Natore Sadar upazila Wednesday midnight. Police arrested BNP activists Rafiqul Islam, Alam Hossain, Masud Rana and Mamunur Rashid for their alleged involvement in the incident. Some 30 to 40 hartal supporters took part in the attack on the Dhaka-bound mango-laden truck from Kansat at about 11:50pm, locals said. "The criminals threw petrol on the truck and set fire to it, leaving mango trader Mosharraf Hossain burn injured. They also beat up another mango trader Sultan Mahmud and driver Abdur Rashid," said Rafiqul Islam, owner of the truck. Mosharraf was admitted to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital while Sultan Mahmud and Abdur Rashid received first aid at Natore Sadar Hospital, he added. Truck owner Rafiqul Islam lodged a case with Natore police station accusing 50 people in this connection, said Abdullah-al-Mamun, officer-in-charge of Natore police station.
