Housewife commits 'suicide'
A housewife allegedly committed suicide on Monday by hanging herself from the ceiling of her house.
Sources said, she killed herself as she could not join Rathajatra Utsab (chariot festival). Her husband allegedly refused to take her to the festival at Nakipur village in Shyamnagar upazila.
Identified as Shila Rani Devnath, 26, she was wife of Ranajit Devnath of Nakipur village.
Sources said, her husband along with her son went out to attend the chariot procession on June 3 afternoon.
Failing to participate in the chariot procession, Shila committed suicide by hanging herself from the ceiling of the house at about 8:30 pm, police and neighbours said.
Police recovered the body and sent it to Satkhira morgue for post mortem.
