Stalkers beat up schoolteachers
Stalkers beat up teachers of Hashimpur High School in Jessore Sadar upazila on Thursday as they protested teasing of girl students of school.
Witnesses said, a group of delinquents led by Abul Kalam Azad alias Mintu and Azizul used to tease the girl students in the school compound. Headmaster Ranjit Kumar Ghose protested this and asked the stalkers to leave the campus.
Angered, the stalkers badly beat up Ranjit Kumar and assaulted other teachers.
The teachers and students of the school immediately staged a demonstration to protest the attack.
They also submitted a memorandum to the deputy commissioner demanding punishment to the stalkers.
In Faridpur, a mobile court on Thursday night convicted a young man and sentenced him to one-year imprisonment for teasing a female college student.
The convict was identified as Hasan Sheikh, 24, son of Rustum Sheikh of East BS Dangi village in Charbhadrasan upazila.
Police said Hasan used to tease a Class XII female student of Charbhadrasan Government College on her way to college.
On Thursday afternoon when she was returning home from private tutor's house, Hasan stopped her on the way and gave her an indecent proposal.
Family members informed the matter to the UNO. Later, police arrested Hasan and when produced in mobile court, UNO M Abdur Rashid handed down the punishment.
