Schoolgirl gang-raped
A gang of three raped allegedly a schoolgirl in the municipality area for four days from June 25 to June 28.
The victim was a student of class IX at Bogabaid High School and daughter of poor rickshaw-puller Md Shahin of village Bogabaid under the municipality.
According to locals, the alleged rapists are Lalon, son of Abdul Haque, Ripon, son of Abul of the same village and Shaymol, son of Nuruzzaman of village Jugirghopa under the municipality.
Victim's family sources said carpenter Lalon, keeping his identity secret, made a relationship with the victim over cell phone.
At one stage, Lalon asked the girl to meet him in Jamalpur ferry terminal area on June 25. Accordingly, the girl went to the area in the evening.
Then Lalon along with his two accomplices, Ripon and Shaymol, took the girl to Nandina of Sadar upazila by an auto-rickshaw. Later the gang fed the girl mixing them with sleeping pills soft drinks and took her to an undisclosed place of Nandina.
After three days, on June 28 noon, the culprits took the girl to a relative's house at Titpulla in Sadar upazila and fled the scene leaving her there.
Contact, victim's father rickshaw-puller Shahin told his correspondent that he dared not file any case against the rapists as he is a poor man and the culprits were sheltered by local influential people.
"I am now constantly under threats by the rapists and their men," he said.
