KCC announces Tk 180 cr budget for 2011-12 fiscal
Mayor Talukder Abdul Khaleque yesterday announced a budget of Tk 179 crore 64 lakh and 51,000 for Khulna City Corporation (KCC) for 2011-12 financial year.
The budget was presented at a press conference in the morning at Nagar Bhaban conference room with ward councillor and head of the KCC standing committee for finance Sufia Rahman Shunu in the chair.
In the budget, no new tax has been imposed on the city dwellers.
The revenue collection target of the city corporation has been fixed at Tk 54 crore and 83 lakh while development expenditure at Tk 124 crore and 81 lakh.
Terming the new annual budget development oriented, mayor Khaleque said that he had sanctioned Tk 16 crore from KCC fund for different development heads reducing the daily expenditure of all sections of the corporation.
The major heads of expenditure are water supply development project Tk 2 crore, infrastructure development Tk 19 crore 60 lakh, public health Tk 3 crore 40 lakh and conservancy Tk 5 crore 5 lakh.
The mayor said that Tk 77 crore and 26 lakh had been sanctioned for seven approved projects of KCC for the next fiscal.
The projects include development of roads and footpaths, infrastructural development of Khulna City Corporation, construction of sanitary landfill, construction of linear park and urban public and environmental health sector development.
The mayor vowed to continue development work of the city as before.
Refuting the allegation of tender manipulation in city corporation, the mayor urged the aggrieved men to help identify the manipulators. Stern action would be taken against them irrespective of political affiliation, he said.
I am committed to root out corruption from the city corporation and sack corrupt officials for establishing a transparent administration, he said while assuring the city dwellers of providing with better civic facilities.
