Patient's death sparks protest
Death of a pregnant woman due to alleged negligence of doctors at Sadar hospital sparked protest on Friday noon.
The relatives of the patient and villagers got furious and cordoned off the hospital. They manhandled Amjad Hossain, a staff of the hospital and demonstrated in the hospital compound.
Hasina, 18, wife of Mojahar Hossain of Jatanpukuri village in Sadar upazila was admitted to the hospital early Friday with severe abdominal pain.
The relatives of the patient alleged that no doctor came to visit her in 7/8 hours since her admission, leading to deterioration of her condition.
Later, Residential Medical Officer (RMO) Dr Baharam Ali visited her at 11:00 am and referred her to district general hospital seeing her critical condition and she died there after sometime.
