Tk 276 cr SCC budget for 2011-12 fiscal
The Sylhet City Corporation (SCC) announced a budget of Tk 275.95 crore for the 2011-2012 financial year on Wednesday.
Mayor Badar Uddin Ahmed Kamran formally placed it at a press conference held at the SCC conference room in the afternoon. No new tax has been imposed on the city dwellers in the new fiscal, he said.
The major heads of income shown in the budget include holding tax-Tk26.71 crore, property hand over fee-Tk 4.5 crore, building construction and reconstruction fee-Tk2.5 crore, business and profession tax-Tk 3 crore, tender schedule sale-Tk 3 crore, water supply charge-Tk 2.8 crore, bus terminal and bus stand leasing-Tk 80 lakh, business ownership transfer and renewal fee-Tk 50 lakh, ferry ghat (terminal) leasing-Tk 20 lakh, rent of city corporation property-Tk 50 lakh, water connection and reconnection fee-Tk 35 lakh and compensation for road cutting-Tk one crore, water supply charge-Tk 2.8 crore, water connection and reconnection fee-Tk 35 lakh etc.
The major heads of expenditure include, revenue-Tk 21.7 crore, infrastructure development and expansion-Tk 100 crore, water supply project-Tk 35 crore, city ADP projects-Tk 5.6 crore, special fund project-Tk 13 crore, urban primary health care project-Tk 4.95 crore, development of mosques, temple, graveyard, cremation ground etc development-Tk 2.5 crore, flood rehabilitation project- Tk 2 crore, city corporation building construction Tk5.5 crore, reclamation of the canals and drains-Tk 1 crore, land acquire-Tk 6 crore, setting up of deep tube well-Tk 35 lakh, slum development programme-Tk 10 lakh, road, drain and water supply programme-Tk 1.10 crore, poverty alleviation project-Tk 3 crore.
Addressing the press conference, the mayor assured of taking special measures to resolve the long-standing drainage problem and improve water supply facilities.
Deputy commissioner Abu Syed Mohammad Hashim, Sylhet Metropolitan Police (SMP) commissioner A B Barua and Rab-9 commanding officer Syed Anagh were also present.
