Rahima Akter, who was bullet-hit during an operation by Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) in Bhairab on June 3, was sent to jail by the court on Monday. A team of Rab-11, Narayanganj, produced her before a judicial magistrate's court at Kishoreganj on Monday afternoon, bringing her from Dhaka Medical College Hospital where she was undergoing treatment. Court Sub-inspector Shafiqul Islam Mukul pleaded for showing her arrested in two cases -- one under Narcotics Act and the other for creating hindrance to the performance of government work. Mufakkharul Islam, sub-inspector of Rab-11, filed the cases with Bhairab police station on June 3 night. After hearing, Judicial Magistrate Muhammad Billal Hossain ordered sending Rahima to jail on Monday evening. On June 3, Rahima Akter, 40, was shot on the head as a team of Rab-11 went to arrest her at her shanty at Panchabati Pukurpar in Bhairab town, suspecting her to be a narcotic trader. After the incident, a Rab press release claimed that Rahima was hit by a stray bullet from the weapon of a Rab member when the woman got locked in a tussle with the elite law enforcers.
