Death of boy in road crash sparks protest
Death of a schoolboy in a road crash sparked off violence in Bajitpur upazila here yesterday morning.
The deceased was identified as Zamran Mia, 12, student of class VII of Bajitpur Pilot High School and son of Emad Mia of Bahernagar village of the upazila.
Police said the boy died on the spot as he was hit by a speedy truck near T & T office while going to school at about 11am.
Angered at the accident, local people damaged the truck and blocked the Kishoreganj-Bajitpur highway.
Police later rushed to the spot, brought the situation under control and arrested truck driver Dulal.
