Five fishermen rescued from Bay in 2 days

At least five fishermen were rescued from the Bay in the last two days. They were drifting in the sea after losing their trawlers during tidal surge and inclement weather. Of them, three were rescued on Sunday from Sonar Char area under Galachipa upazila, one from Kuakata area under Kalapara upazila the same day and another from Moudubi area under Galachipa upazila yesterday. The hapless fishermen were identified as Gias Uddin, 40, Mahfuz Ullah, 32, Ismail, 30, Sona Mia, 42, and Eunus, 45, of Cox's Bazar and Teknaf areas. They were being treated in different health complexes and clinics in the district. According to Mahe Alam, OC of Rangabali police station, local fishermen rescued Eunus of Teknaf early yesterday from Moudubi shoal in an unconscious state. Eunus said his trawler with 18 fishermen from Teknaf capsized in the rough sea. He couldn't say what happened to the other fishermen, the OC added. On Sunday, local fishermen rescued three other fishermen from Sonar Char area while floating on plastic pots. They were brought to Rangabali health centre for treatment. Gias Uddin, one of rescued fisherman said he was on FB Mohajon when it capsized with 14 others. "We do not know whether the other fishermen of our trawler are alive or not", Gias Uddin said. "I have contacted with relatives of all the rescued fishermen and they are coming to receive them", the OC said.
