50 fall sick in Manikganj
At least 50 people were food poisoned after taking 'prasad' (sweets and food offered to an idol) of Narayan puja at Koitta village in Saturia upazila on Wednesday night.
Over 100 villagers joined the puja held at the house of Sukumar Bhoumik. Afterwards food items made of raw milk, wheat, banana, dates and molasses were served at about 6:30pm.
After 8:00pm people started to fall sick. Over 50 people were rushed to Sadar hospital as they started vomiting and feeling abdominal pain.
Dr Rezaul Hossain of the hospital said food poisoning might be the cause of falling sick. Condition of a few patients is serious, he added.
