2 housewives murdered in Kushtia

Two housewives have been tortured to death allegedly by their husbands in two separate incidents in the district. Hamida Parvin Sumi, 22, of Khoksa upazila died on Tuesday night at Rajshahi Medical College Hospital (RMCH). According to police, Sumi's husband Sohel Ahmed, a medical assistant at Khoksa upazila health complex allegedly tortured her at their home on Saturday night. He then dumped the body in a roadside ditch. The next morning, locals found Sumi in an unconcious state and took her to Khoksa upazila health complex. As her condition deteriorated, she was shifted to RMCH where she died after a day's struggle. Belal Hossain, officer in-charge (OC) of Khoksa police station said, a case has been filed. Police are looking for Sohel but he has gone into hiding, he said. In another case in Daulatpur upazila, police recovered the hanging body of a six-month pregnant woman on Tuesday morning. Victim Hulia Khatun, 23, was allegedly tortured to death for dowry. She was married to Rokunuzzaman about four years ago. Police suspect that Rukunuzzaman tortured her to death and then hung her body from the ceiling of their house. A case has been filed with Daulatpur police station.
