Two minor girls raped in Lalmonirhat, Jessore

Two minor girls, raped in Lalmonirhat and Jessore yesterday, are groaning in pain in the hospital bed. A teenage boy raped a seven-year-old girl, also a student of Class I, at Karnopur village in Mogholhat union under Lalmonirhat Sadar upazila yesterday morning, reports our Lalmonirhat correspondent. The victim, daughter of Mahmudul Islam Monju, was called by her neighbour Rashedul Islam, 16, son of Aminul Islam, at around 8:30am. Rashedul raped the child when all other members of his family went to a relative's house at an adjacent village. Hearing the girl's screams, locals rescued her from Rashedul's room in a critical condition and took her to Lalmonirhat Sadar Hospital while the rapist went into hiding, said police and locals. The condition of the girl is critical, hospital sources said. Victim's grandfather freedom fighter Meher Zaman filed a rape case with Lalmonirhat Sadar police station accusing Rashedul. Police is trying to arrest the absconding criminal, said Sub-Inspector Abdul Quddus, investigation officer of the case. Our Benapole Correspondent adds: A criminal raped a 10-year-old girl at Sammondhokati village in Navaron under Sharsha upazila of Jessore district yesterday. The victim's aunt Sayeda Begum said that she rescued the victim from a field while the culprit, Mashiur Rahman, son of Laskar Ali of Dakhhin Burjabagan area, fled away. She was admitted to Navaron Hospital and later sent to Jessore 250-bed Hospital for better treatment as her condition was critical, said Dr Nasir Uddin of Navaron Hospital. Matiar Rahman, sub-inspector of Sharsha police station, said that none filed any case in this regard.
