20 female madrasa students fall sick
At least 20 female students of a Qawmi madrasa fell sick due to 'excessive' heat at Maria in Sadar upazila yesterday.
The students of Ayesha Siddiqa Qawmi Mohila Madrasa suddenly fell sick while they were attending their classes at about 11am, teachers said.
They said some students of class V fell sick due to excessive heat while a victim said that they lost their sense as a female teacher of Arabic department compelled them to stand in the sun as a punishment.
Female teacher Asma Akter, however, denied the allegation. Of the sick students, seven were admitted to Sadar Hospital while the rest given first aid.
Due to excessive heat, the students might fall sick, said Dr Khairul Alam, who was on duty at the emergency section of the hospital.
