Abducted schoolgirl rescued in Gaibandha
Gobindaganj police yesterday rescued a schoolgirl from a house at Maria village in the upazila.
Police said Ranju Mia, father of two children, picked up the girl, a student of class seven at Mokaberia Dakhil Madrasa on a microbus on May 9 and took her to an unknown place.
The victim later told police that the abductor kept her confined to houses in different areas and violated her several times.
Father of the victim Alam Mia of Maria Shahebbari village filed an abduction case with Gobindagnaj police station a few days later as he failed to find out his daughter after vigorous search.
Following a tip-off yesterday, police raided the house of Ranju Mia, rescued the girl but failed to arrest the culprit as he fled the scene sensing police presence.
The victim was sent to Gaibandha Sadar Hospital for medical test yesterday.
