PSTU to hold its first convocation Feb 27
The first convocation of Patuakhali Science and Technology University (PSTU) will take place on February 27.
Nurul Islam Nahid, education minister is expected to attend the function as the chief guest and representative of the Chancellor.
Students of BSc (Ag) of sessions 1999-2000 to 2004-05, BBA (Bachelor of Business Administration) of sessions 2003-04 to 2004-05, CSE (Computer Science and Engineering) of sessions 2003-04 to 2004-05, VDM (Veterinary Medicine) of session 2002-03 and those who completed MS (Masters) and PhD degrees by December 2010 can to participate in the function, official sources said.
Meanwhile, registration is expected to be completed by today.
Patuakhali Science and Technology University (PSTU) formally started functioning on promulgation of government gazette notification on 26th February, 2002 at the campus of former Patuakhali Agricultural College.
The university is located in Dumki upazila, about 15 kilometers from Patuakhali district headquarters and 28 kilometers from Barisal divisional town.
The total land area of the university is 89.97 acres. The area has 38 acres for main campus, 39 acres for agricultural farm and 12.97 acres for outer campus.
Around 160 teachers, 59 officers and 256 employees are working at the university.
There are four faculties -- a) Faculty of Agriculture B) Faculty of Computer Science and Engineering c) Faculty of Business Administration and Management and d) Faculty of Animal Science and Veterinary Medicine.
Under these faculties 1792 students are studying in the university which has 31 rich research centres to provide "experimental teaching.”
Besides, there is a central research centre with modern equipments, PSTU sources said.
