Acid attack on mother of three

Criminals entered a house at Kalapara village at dead of night on Monday and threw acid on a housewife. Seriously burnt, she was admitted to Kalapara upazila health complex on Tuesday noon and later shifted to Patuakhali General Hospital in the evening. On Wednesday, Brac, an NGO sent her to Acid Survivors Foundation (ASF) in Dhaka for better treatment. Mother of three, victim Hosneara Begum, 35, is wife of Khabir Sikder of Tarikata village under the upazila. Police quoting the victim said Hosneara went to bed on Monday night with two of her children Tanzila, 10, and Masum, 8 as her husband went to his workplace in Chittagong. At about 3am two criminals entered her house by digging earth and attacked the housewife. As she raised a hue and cry, the criminals threw acid on her person including left side of her face. Locals rushed severely injured Hosneara to local health complex. On hearing the news, Brac sent her to Dhaka for better treatment for free, Nityananda Shil, an official of Brac told this correspondent. Ishaq Ali, OC of Kalapara police station said police went to the spot but none was arrested as no case was filed in this regard.
