Two housewives murdered, another commits 'suicide'

Two housewives have been beaten to death in Mymensingh and Jessore while another allegedly committed suicide in Jhenidah. A housewife, who was beaten up by her neighbour on Tuesday over a trifling matter at Vagnamari char village in Gouripur upazila in Mymensingh, died at Mymensingh Medical College and Hospital the next morning, reports UNB. The deceased was identified as Saleha, 42, wife of Nurul Islam of the village. Police quoting locals said, on Tuesday afternoon, Saleha collected some leaves of the jackfruit tree of her neighbour Abdul Halim. Later, an altercation ensued between them over the issue. In the evening, angry Halim along with his men entered the house of Saleha and beat her mercilessly, leaving her critically injured. She was rushed to the hospital where she died early in the morning. In Benapole, Jessore, a housewife was beaten to death allegedly by her husband at Dhannokhola village on Monday night, reports a correspondent. The deceased was identified as Kanchan Begum, 19, daughter of Abul Kashem of Shikarpur village under the same police station. Kamal Hossain, brother of the deceased said, his sister and Abdul Quddus, son of Momin Hossain got married one year ago. After the marriage Quddus often tortured Kanchan for dowry. On Monday night, the couple engaged in an altercation over a trivial family matter and at one stage Quddus beat her up mercilessly leaving her dead. Later, he tried to establish it as a suicide incident by pouring poison into her mouth, Kamal claimed. On information, police rushed to the spot and recovered the body and sent it to hospital morgue for autopsy. A UD case was filed. In Jhenidah, a housewife allegedly commited suicide on Wednesday noon after damaging a mobile sent by her expatriate brother. The incident occurred at Nadpara village under Shailkupa upazila. Victim Morzina Khatun, 30, was daughter of Golap Biswas of Nadpara village under Shailkupa upazila. Officer-in-charge (OC) of Shailkupa police station said, Morzina was married to Saiful Islam of Nadpara village about 10 years ago. Mother of two children, her brother lives abroad and he recently sent a mobile set for Morzina. The mobile went out of order on Wednesday morning and this led to a quarrel between Morzina and her husband. As her husband rebuked her, after a while Morzina took poison. She was rushed to Shailkupa health complex where she died at noon.
