Firearms, bullets recovered
Bangladesh Rifles (BDR) and Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) in separate drives in Chapainawabagnj and Pabna recovered five firearms and 16 bullets yesterday and the day before.
BDR recovered a pistol, two magazines, seven bullets and 300 grams of heroin from two upazilas in Chapainawabagnj yesterday. They also arrested three drug and arms peddlers, reports our correspondent.
On information, a BDR team raided the house of Mohammad Naimul of Eroda Biswastola village at around 3:00 am. The border guards recovered one USA made pistol, two magazines and seven bullets from the house.
BDR personnel also arrested the house owner, said Abu Bakar Abu, Commanding Officer of 39 Rifles Battalion.
In another drive, a BDR team arrested two youths on Chapainawabganj-Sonamasjid land port highway in Moharajpur area of Sadar upazila at around 10:00 am when they were going to the district town from frontier village Fatapara on bicycles.
After searching them the border guards recovered 300 grams of heroin.
In Pabna, Rab recovered four firearms and 9 bullets from a rice mill at Dashuria in Ishwardi upazila at about 9:40 pm on Saturday, reports our correspondent.
Rab sources said, on a tip-off a team of Rab-12, Pabna raided Md Irzan Ali's rice mill at night when the criminals were holding a secret meeting there.
Sensing presence of the elite force the criminals fled the spot. Later, Rab searched the area and recovered 2 revolvers, a shutter gun, a pipe gun and 9 bullets from the rice mill godown.
