One killed as speedboats collide
At least one person was killed and 10 others received injury when two speedboats collided head-on in Kathalbari area under Shibchar upazila on Wednesday night.
The deceased was identified as Mohiuddin Mollah, 19, son of Malek Molla of Bahadurpur area of Shibchar upazila.
Source said the accident occurred at around 8:00pm when a speedboat with 11 passengers on board from Mawa collided with another speedboat. Later, another speedboat rushed to the spot and rescued 10 passengers but Mohiuddin went missing.
Yesterday a team of police led by Inspector (Investigation) Mizanur Rahman and ASI Nur Hossain recovered the body from the river.
