28 pirates held while looting ship in Bay

Bangladesh Coast Guard (east zone) on Wednesday arrested 28 pirates in the Bay of Bengal while they were committing robbery on a scrap ship from Singapore. Coast Guard Zonal Command's Lieutenant Commander Rajibul Islam said about 50 pirates attacked M V Ida for robbery near Kutubdia the previous night. Getting the information from the vessel's captain, a team of coast guard with their rescue ship 'Rupashi Bangla' rushed to the vessel and conducted a drive. The coast guard members arrested 28 pirates from the spot and recovered a huge quantity of foreign furniture, electronic equipment and ship's valuable machineries. Later, the pirates were handed over to Patenga police station.
