Argument between the prosecution witnesses and the accused in Khagrachhari BDR mutiny case will begin at the special court-15 on December 23. The special court, set up at Khagrachhari Sector headquarters, passed the order in presence of all the 47 rebels of 29 Rifles Battalion under the sector. The special court headed by Chittagong BDR Sector Commander Lt Col Zahedur Rahamn then adjourned the trial until 9:00am on December 23. Two other members of the court are Lt Col Abdur Nur and Major AZM Golam Mostafa AL Mamun. Of the accused, 43 have claimed innocence while the rest confessed to their involvement in the mutiny at the battalion on February 26 last year. Deputy Attorney General Kazi Mohammad Ejarul Haque Akand, special public prosecutors Md Habebur Rahman, and Aminur Rahman Khan were present. In Joypurhat, a special trial court has fixed December 23 for pronouncing verdict of 20 BDR mutineers, reports UNB. All the accused were produced before No. 13 special court set up at 3rd Rifle Battalion headquarters last week. The accused pleaded guilty and sought pardon for their guilt. After hearing, the court, led by BDR Dinajpur sector commander Colonel Saleh Ahmed, suspended the proceedings till 9am on December 23 and also set the date for the verdict.
