100 hurt in clashes in Habiganj, Sunamganj
At least 50 people were injured, eight seriously, in a fierce clash between two rival groups at Jaria village in Bahubal upazila on Saturday.
Police said there was a longstanding conflict between Rahmat Ali and Hossain Ali of the locality over establishing supremacy at the village.
Local people said an altercation ensued between Rahmat and Hossain over a trifling mater at noon. Later, their supporters equipped with sticks and lethal weapons attacked each other that left 50 people from both sides injured.
Police arrested 32 people in connection with the clash.
In Sunamganj, over 50 people were injured in a fierce clash between two groups of villagers in Chhatak upazila over harvesting paddy from a disputed land on Friday.
Sources said, there was a longstanding dispute between Hossain Ahmed of Kaliarchar village and Mirza Nabid of Nanosree village of the upazila over the ownership of a plot of land.
The clash ensued in the morning when the supporters of Ahmed tried to cut paddy from the disputed land that left 50 people injured from both sides.
