BCL leader killed in Habiganj
A Chhatra League (BCL) leader was killed by assailants in Madhabpur upazila town on Monday night.
Victim Safiul Alam Parvez, 20, was son of Harunur Rashid of Islampur Kazibari in Brahmanbaria district.
He was a first year honours student of Dhaka college and vice-president of Budhotti union unit Chhatra League.
Police and family sources said, Parvez's friends Al Mamun and Asim Das along with 5/6 unidentified youngsters called him out of his rented house at Madhabpur town at about 4:00pm.
Later, one person introducing himself as Sohel informed the victim's father over phone at about 8:00pm that Parvez was at Madhabpur upazila health complex.
Police said Mamun and Asim picked up a quarrel with Parvez over a call girl near Khashti Bridge in the upazila at about 6:00pm. At one stage, they hit Parvez with sharp weapon leaving him dead on the spot.
